White label video hosting: share videos on your own domain
Updated
In short
White label video hosting means sharing your videos on your own domain, under your own brand, without the logo of the tool that hosts them. With Clarcut Plus ($9/month or $90/year), your links can open at an address like video.yoursite.com/v/…, with your logo, your name, your accent color and a light or dark theme, and no mention of Clarcut on the page. Setup takes a single DNS record (a CNAME), and the HTTPS certificate is created automatically.

What white label means for video
When you share a video by link, the person who opens it usually sees two brands: yours, in the content, and the host’s, in the URL and around the player. With white label, the second one goes away. The URL is on your domain, the header shows your logo and name, and the colors are yours.
For your client, it’s simple: they get a link from your company and land on a page from your company. They don’t wonder which tool you use, and they don’t get pulled toward a software vendor’s website.
Who needs it
- Agencies that deliver demos, annotated mockups or recap videos and want everything to carry their name.
- Freelancers, for whom every link sent to a client is part of their professional image.
- SaaS companies that send onboarding videos to new customers and want to stay on-brand from the email to the watch page.
- Support teams that answer tickets with a short video: a link on the company’s own domain feels more trustworthy than an unfamiliar URL.
- Course creators sending a bonus or workshop to students while keeping the main course on their platform.
How to set up your domain, step by step
- 1
Pick a subdomain
For example video.yoursite.com or demo.youragency.com. Use a subdomain that isn’t used for anything else: it will be dedicated to your video pages.
- 2
Open Account → White label
Enter the subdomain. Your account shows the DNS record to create.
- 3
Add the CNAME at your DNS provider
Point the subdomain to dns.clarcut.com. That’s what sends visitors of video.yoursite.com to your video pages.
- 4
On Cloudflare, set the CNAME to “DNS only”
The cloud should be gray, not orange. Otherwise verification and certificate creation can’t complete.
- 5
Let verification run
Clarcut checks your CNAME every 5 minutes, for up to 72 hours. As soon as they’re found, the HTTPS certificate is created automatically: nothing to buy or install.
- 6
Customize the page
Add your logo, your name and your accent color, pick a light or dark theme, and enter your website address.
- 7
Copy links as usual
Once the domain is active, links copied from the app (Windows and Mac) and from your account use your domain.
The DNS records to create
| Type | Name (example) | Value | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| CNAME | video.yoursite.com | dns.clarcut.com | Sends your subdomain to your video pages |
| A (root domain only) | yoursite.com | Address shown in your account | Replaces the CNAME if you use a domain without a subdomain |
A root domain (yoursite.com) works with an A record, but it would then only serve video pages. If your website already runs on that domain, stick with a subdomain.
What your client sees, compared with a clarcut.com link
| clarcut.com/v/… link | Link on your domain | |
|---|---|---|
| URL | clarcut.com/v/… | video.yoursite.com/v/… |
| Logo and name in the header | Clarcut | Yours |
| Colors | Clarcut look | Your accent color, light or dark theme |
| Mentions of Clarcut on the page | None: no logo, no link, no Clarcut analytics | |
| Player and clickable transcript | ||
| Transcript search and timestamp links (?t=) | ||
| Domain root | Clarcut’s website | Redirects to your website, if you entered it |
Pages on your domain aren’t indexed by search engines: they’re meant for the people you send the link to, not to be found on Google.
Branding options
- Logo: a PNG, JPEG or WebP file. A horizontal logo on a transparent background (PNG or WebP) fits best in both light and dark themes.
- Name: your company, your agency, or your own name if you work solo.
- Accent color: use your brand’s main color so the page matches your website.
- Light or dark theme: pick the one that goes with your logo and site.
- Website link: it doubles as a redirect. Anyone who types video.yoursite.com with no path lands on your website instead of an empty page.
Your existing links keep working
Turning on white label doesn’t break anything. The clarcut.com/v/… links you’ve already sent keep working, with the Clarcut look. New links copied from the app or your account use your domain. If a key client received an old link, just send them the new address.
If your subscription stops
White label is part of Clarcut Plus. If the subscription stops, your domain is paused right away, and it comes back on its own with the next payment: no DNS to redo. For the videos themselves, the usual Clarcut Plus rule applies: without a subscription, they’re deleted after 30 days. Keep MP4 copies of important deliverables.
The limits, honestly
- One domain per account. An agency that wants a different domain for each client can’t do that with a single account: all videos share the same brand.
- Video pages only. Clarcut doesn’t provide a full website or a video gallery on your domain.
- No embeddable player announced. To put a video inside a page on your site, export an MP4 or use a video platform.
- No team workspace and no comments on shared videos: Clarcut Plus is built for viewers, not for a team collaborating on videos.
- No indexing: if you want a video to be found on Google, publish it on YouTube or your website.
Ways to brand your videos, compared
| Approach | Your domain | Your logo | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professional video platforms (such as Vimeo, Wistia) | Depends on plan | Depends on plan | Branded players, embedding on your site and analytics, built for video marketing; check which plan includes what. |
| Loom | Not advertised | Yes, Business plan | Logo on the video page, player colors and Loom branding removed; no custom domain on its pricing page. |
| Tella | Yes, Premium plan | Tella branding removed, Premium plan | Custom domain and Tella branding removed, with analytics and comments. |
| Cap | Yes, with Cap Pro | Not verified | Custom domain with Cap Pro, or self-host the sharing side. |
| Self-hosting | Full control, but you handle storage, encoding, bandwidth and the HTTPS certificate. | ||
| Clarcut Plus | Included in the subscription, with a clickable transcript; one domain per account, no embed announced. |
The right pick depends on how you use video. If your videos need to live on your website, embedded in pages, a video platform is a better fit. If you mostly send links to clients and already edit in Clarcut, Clarcut Plus white label saves you another tool.
Best practices
- Pick a short, clear subdomain: video, demo or help reads well in an email.
- Test a link in a private browser window before sending it to a client, so you see the page the way they will.
- Give each video a title that says what it shows: it appears at the top of the page, under your logo.
- Blur sensitive data before you share: a page with your name on it is still a page your client can forward.
Frequently asked questions
What is white label video hosting?
It’s sharing your videos on your own domain, with your logo and colors, without the host’s branding. With Clarcut Plus, the watch page carries no mention of Clarcut.
How much does white label cost?
It’s included in Clarcut Plus, at $9/month or $90/year. Clarcut Plus works with or without Clarcut Pro.
How long until my domain works?
Clarcut checks your DNS records every 5 minutes, for up to 72 hours. The HTTPS certificate is created as soon as verification succeeds. On Cloudflare, remember to set the CNAME to “DNS only.”
Can I use my main domain instead of a subdomain?
Yes, with an A record. But the domain will then only serve video pages, so if your website is already on it, use a subdomain like video.yoursite.com instead.
Do my old clarcut.com links still work?
Yes. They keep working, with the Clarcut look. Links copied after your domain is active use your domain.
Can I have a different domain for each client?
No. White label allows one domain per account, and it covers video pages only.
